How to: Create Device groups

Last modified: Tuesday April 18, 2023.

Adding cameras to logical device groups enables you to organize your cameras in a way that makes most sense for your installation and your site.

For example, you might create a device group for each floor of your site, or for each wing of your building. This information then helps your operators to mentally relate the information they see on their screens with the physical layout of the sites they are securing. For more information on sites, see How to: Create Sites.

Prerequisites

Decide on the naming convention that works best for the sites being protected.

Task — Create Device groups

  2. Click Configure sites and groups.
  3. Select the Groups tab.
  4. Click Add new credentials Add new for the relevant site.
  5. Enter a name. You can use the same name across different sites, for example, Floor 1. If you use the same group name within a site, Alta Aware adds a unique numeric indicator, for example Floor(1), Floor(2).
  6. If available, select any required Labels for the group.
    1. To create a new label, choose + Create a new label from the drop-down menu.
    2. A blue outline and tick indicates a label inherited from the site.

    3. Choose Delete.
  7. Click Done.
