Alta-Aware-838 Vulnerabilities in the containerd and the docker/distribution Golang packages

Release Date

31st of October 2023.

Overview

An attacker could use a vulnerability in the containerd/containerd Golang package to cause Ava Aware to restart, if they were able to modify a container image relied on by the product. Another vulnerability in the same package could allow an attacker with very high level of access to bypass restrictions, giving them the ability to view and modify sensitive information as well as execute code in the container.

A vulnerability in the docker/distributionGolang package could allow a high privilege user to induce an Ava Aware restart via a maliciously crafted API request.

Affected Products

  • Ava Aware:
    • All Stable upgrade channel versions before 6.1.5.
    • All Beta upgrade channel versions before 6.1.0.

    • All Stable upgrade channel versions after and including 6.1.5.
    • All Beta upgrade channel versions after and including 6.1.0.

  • Ava Cloud: all versions.

Resolution
