How to: Upload site maps to Map view

Last modified: Monday December 11, 2023.

With Avigilon Alta Aware, you can add site maps (also known as floorplans) and customize them by adding the position and representative fields of view for all your cameras.

When configured, these site maps are used to display Smart Presence, showing an overview of where people and/or vehicles are on your site.

Maps are grouped by site. If you cannot find a previously added map, ensure you are viewing the correct site.

Prerequisites

Make sure you have suitable electronic versions of the site maps to be uploaded.

The images to be uploaded as site maps must:

  • Be in either JPEG (.jfif, .pjpeg, .jpeg, .jpg) or Portable Network Graphic (.png) format.
Note: Scalable Vector Graphics (.svgz, .svg) are not supported.
  • Be less than 10MB for the request body (map + items)
  • Not exceed a maximum image size of 14M pixels.
Keeping the map images to around 1MB, and at a resolution that equals or is lower than that of the intended viewing station, will improve the load times for the maps.

The map file name is used by Aware; before uploading the map, rename the file to reflect the area it shows, for example, Head office floor 1.jpg, as needed.
