How to: Use the Devices tool to exclude an object from analytics

Last modified: Monday May 09, 2022.

On occasion, you might get a repeated, or continuous false detection in a camera view. For example, the Avigilon Alta analytics might classify a mail box as a person.

If this occurs, you can exclude that object from future detections from within the Devices tool.

Task — Exclude the falsely detected object

  1. Choose Tools Open a tool > Devices Devices.
  2. Select the camera of interest.

Use the Search for devices button search to find the camera in large lists of devices.

  3. From Settings, click Edit settings.
  4. Click Exclude false detections.
The camera view is displayed, showing the currently detected objects.
  5. Click the object to exclude from analytics.
  6. If Do not show this again has not previously been selected, review the provided information about excluded objects. Click Exclude.

Hover the cursor over a thumbnail to show the location and information about of the excluded object in the camera view.

  7. Click Done.

Task — Remove a previously excluded object

If a detected object was erroneously excluded, or the exclusion no longer applies (for example, a dumpster that triggered vehicle detections has now been removed), you can remove the detection from the exclusion list.

  1. Select the camera of interest.

Use the Search for devices search to find the camera in large lists of devices.

  2. From Settings, click Edit settings.
  3. Click Exclude false detections.
The camera view is displayed, showing the currently detected objects. Thumbnails of all excluded objects are also shown.
  4. Click the thumbnail to remove.
If still in camera view, the object is again detected by the Avigilon Alta analytics.
  5. Click Done.
