How to: Configure anomaly settings for your cameras

For situations where you do not want the anomaly detection running on one or more of your cameras, for example, your company is holding an office party that will run late into the evening, you can switch off anomaly detection on any cameras covering the main party area so you do not get repeated detections.

You can check the current status of the anomaly training, control the amount of alerts you receive, and choose to mute alerts from individual cameras.

Task — Anomaly settings

1. Choose Open a tool > Devices.
2. Click Anomaly settings.
3. To enable or disable anomaly detection for a camera, use the STATUS toggle.
   The TRAINING status changes to Paused for cameras with disabled anomaly detection.

   When anomaly detection is disabled, no detections are made for the selected camera, and the analytics model is not updated.

4. You can see the current status of the anomaly detection in the TRAINING column. The possible states are:
   • Initial — when a camera is first set up, the analytics training is set to Initial. For the first two weeks, the Aware analytics is learning about your environment.
   • Ongoing — once the initial training period has completed, Aware moves to Ongoing, where anomaly detections are made based on the previous training.

     The Aware analytics constantly retrains itself, based on the recent activities detected on each camera.

   • Locked — the anomaly detector continues to make detections, triggering events and showing results on Video view, but the analytics model is not updated. This is useful, for example, during a company holiday where you still want detections, but you do not want Aware to update its model based on a lack of people in the area.
   • Paused — you (or another Aware operator) have manually disabled the anomaly detection on a specific camera.

   As People, Vehicle and Audio detection use different training models, you can lock any combination of models.

   To lock a training model for a specific camera:

   1. Click the relevant TRAINING edit icon.
      The Edit Training for dialog is displayed.
   2. Select to lock either People or Vehicles.

      To lock both People and Vehicle training models, first lock the People model, and then select the Vehicles model and lock that.

   3. Select Lock until.
   4. Using the date and time fields, specify when you want the lock to finish.
   5. Click Close.

5. Use the AMOUNT OF ALERTS slider to tune the number of alerts you receive.

   The most unusual events are always shown.

6. To stop alerts from a camera being shown in Aware, enable Mute for the relevant camera.
7. Choose the training to be enabled for each camera. The options are:
   • People
   • Vehicles
   • Audio (Avigilon Ava cameras only)

   For example, you might want to disable the Vehicles training model for cameras inside your office spaces.

8. Click Done.
