When using third-party cameras with your on-premise Alta Aware® or your Alta Aware® deployment, you might need to access the user interface for the camera, for example, to make adjustments that cannot be made from he Aware user interface. As cameras are often installed on isolated camera networks, separated from the main corporate network, it can be difficult to access the user interfaces of these third-party cameras.

To simplify this task, use the Alta Aware Camera Proxy to access the relevant third-party camera, without needing to connect to the isolated camera network or locate the IP address.

The proxy server attempts to login to the camera using the credentials held by Aware. This supports both Basic and Digest authentication.

In some cases, this will not work, and you have to enter the camera credentials in your browser. This is because the credentials stored in Aware are not valid for the camera's web interface, or because the camera uses a different authentication scheme.

The Alta Aware Camera Proxy consists of the Proxy server included in Alta Aware and Aware Cloud, and the Proxy client software that is run from the Microsoft Windows or Linux computer being used to administer the on-premises Alta video security systems and its cameras.
