How to: Create an access control connection rule

Last modified: Thursday April 13, 2023.

Once you have added your access control system to Alta Aware, we recommend that you configure a rule to notify you of any connection issues between Alta Aware and your access control system.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have added your access control system to your Aware deployment.

Task — Create a connection rule

  1. Choose Tools Tools > Rules Rules.
  2. Click System tabSystem.
  3. Click the Add button add button.
  4. Type a name for the rule.
  5. Ensure Appliance issues button System issues is selected.
  6. Set the Level of importance for the rule.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select Access control connection from External connection issues.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Select the access control appliances or Cloud Connectors to use in this rule.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Specify your required Date & Time settings.

If you have predefined them, use Templates to simplify adding the same date and time parameters to multiple rules.

  13. Click Next.
  14. Select your required actions. Select from:
    • Pop-up — when triggered, pops up a notification on the Aware user interface that includes a thumbnail view of the camera view that triggered the rule. The Pop-up can be expanded to show more detail and allow further actions to be taken by your operators.

Optionally, select Also send a push notification on the mobile app to have your operators that use the Alta Aware mobile apps notified when this rule triggers.

    • Email — when triggered, an email message is sent to the defined user or group of users.
    • Webhook — when triggered, enables notification via a webhook to your preferred communication system.

Alarms are only shown to operators that have access to the access control points that trigger the rule.

    • Choose if you require your operators to acknowledge the rule when it is triggered.
