How to: Create an access control connection rule

Once you have added your access control system to Ava Aware, we recommend that you configure a rule to notify you of any connection issues between Ava Aware and your access control system.
Prerequisites
Ensure that you have added your access control system to your Aware deployment.
Task — Open the Rules tool
- Log in to your Ava Aware deployment.
- Click
New tool from the tool ribbon, or click theAdd new tool button, then selectRules
TipIf the Rules tab is already open, click the tab to view the page.
Task — Create a connection rule
- Click the
System tab.
- Click the
add button.
- Type a name for the rule.
- Make sure the
Appliance issues button is selected (purple).
- Set the
Level of importance for the rule. - Click
Next . - Select
Access control connection fromExternal connection issues . - Click
Next . - Select the access control points to use in this rule.
- Click
Next . - Specify your required
Date & Time settings.TipIf you have predefined them, use
Templates to simplify adding the same date and time parameters to multiple rules. - Click
Next . - Select your required actions. Select from:
Pop-up — when triggered, pops up a notification on the Aware user interface that includes a thumbnail view of the camera view that triggered the rule. The Pop-up can be expanded to show more detail and allow further actions to be taken by your operators.TipOptionally, select
Also send a push notification on the mobile app to have your operators that use the Ava Aware mobile apps notified when this rule triggers.Email — when triggered, an email message is sent to the defined user or group of users.Webhook — when triggered, enables notification via a webhook to your preferred communication system.TipAlarms are only shown to operators that have access to the access control points that trigger the rule.
- Choose if you require your operators to acknowledge the rule when it is triggered.
